Digital Society School [2021-22]

Digital Society School is a diverse and international community of individuals from various fields coming together for a 5 month traineeship program that works with real-life clients on projects relating to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Digital Twin for Mental Health

In this 5 months project I've coached a group of trainees on the development of a project to explore the potential of Digital Twin technology in improving the well-being of students. The project combined data from wearable devices with journal entries in virtual reality to promote self-awareness and recognition of patterns, with the goal of enhancing mental health.

Digital Twin for Self-Reflection

This project built upon previous research on using Digital Twin technology for mental health. Our multidisciplinary team of trainees developed a concept for an app, named Inner Voice, which would facilitate self-reflection by providing users with reflection prompts and helping them adopt a positive mindset. Additionally, the app would allow users to access a virtual space where their data would be displayed, encouraging self-reflection.

Digital Twin for Climate Prediction

The team of muntidicplinary trainees conducted a 5 moths project to examine the potential of using Digital Twin technology to increase awareness of climate issues in urban areas. In partnership with the municipality of Amersfoort, the team utilized digital twins of cities and real-time weather data to create models that predict the impact of heat waves on urban areas. They also investigated the "heat island effect" present in cities and its potential impact on people's health and the environment.

Digital Twin for Climate Awareness

This project was a follow-up to earlier research on using Digital Twins for raising climate awareness. The team created a smart plant pot that would notify homeowners about potential hazards of heatwaves, and provide suggestions for staying cool. The plant pot would also be linked to real-time weather data, as well as the temperature inside the home. Additionally, this project fostered a connection between humans and nature, as users were also responsible for nurturing and caring for a tree that would eventually provide shade in their city.
